Have you ever had a Gyro?

Today I drove over to Huntsville, AL to get another pair of eyeglasses at Lenscrafters,  located on University Dr. right behind Ruby Tuesdays.  After my DKNY glasses were fitted I had to wait about an hr. before they would be ready.  So I was feeling alittle bit hungry and was craving a Gyro from Papa Gryo's.  Located in the same shopping center as Lenscrafters I jumped at the chance for my favorite sandwich.  The Gyro is the ultimate Greek delicatessan.   This is not the everyday sandwich that we Southernors are so commonly use to.

The Gyro is roasted on a veritcal rotisserie.  The meat is typically pork, chicken or lamb, and occasionally beef mixed with spices.  Served with a yogurt sauce called Tzatziki that is a mixture of cucumbers, yogurt, lemon, garlic and fresh dill.  All of this on top of Pita bread is enough to fill the most hungriest of the all.

If you would like to try one of Papa Gyro's famous Gyro sandwiches the address is:
49255 University Drive
Huntsville, Alabama 35816
256-489-9050

p.s.  They also serve Persian food for those who would like to try alitte Middle Eastern cuisine.
